Kona Green Coffee - Only Buy The Best

Arguably one of the best makes of coffee is Kona Green Coffee.  Why,… simply because of the tropical environment in which it’s grown, thereby making it one of the finest types of coffee beans you could ever wish to buy

Just like the many other varieties, Kona green coffee is roasted to varying degrees, depending on what roast is required.  Kona is a part of the Hawaiian archipelago where this special coffee variant is grown.  It’s important not to confuse it with Kailua of Oahu as Kailua Kona is an attractive locale variety that’s sometimes referred to only as Kona.

Kona Green Coffee Being HarvestedMost Kona Green Coffee is grown on large, old-growth, productive Typica trees.  True Kona coffee is grown only in the northern and southern parts of the mountainous Kona region in Hawaii.  This gourmet coffee is the direct product of the mild, tropical climate and rich volcanic soils unique to this part of the world.

What’s also surprising is that Kona green coffee is also an Arabica blend, making it a truly premier coffee variant that Hawaiians can proudly offer all over the world.  It can be sweet or bitter in taste, further adding to its popularity, and the smooth texture that it adds to the coffee is always a plus point for many.  This is especially true throughout Europe where the price of Kona Green Coffee is reflected by its flavoursome taste.  In Italy for example you can expect to receive a small cup of very strong but perfectly flavoured Kona Green Coffee every time.

Kona coffee beans bloom in early spring.   However, the plants do not develop fruit all at the same time.  This is because the coffee farmer harvest at varying times.  The Kona green coffee farmer will hand pick these beans and only select the best of the best from the Kona tree.  This in itself is a skilful process and requires knowledge and dedication from every picker.  It’s not uncommon for each Typica to be picked five times in anyone growing season to harvest as much Kona green coffee as possible.

The Kona coffee’s themselves are full-bodied and rich in flavour with a hint of spice. This combined with the hand-picked quality of the coffees on less than two thousand acres in the entire world lends itself to the expense of the Kona beans on the open market.

Once the coffee beans are harvested, it’s just a matter of time before they are shipped all over the world.  However if you’re buying a bag of Kona green coffee it’s important to read the label first.  You may find that the actual quantity of Kona coffee is less than 10% and the other 90% is likely to be from inferior South American beans instead.

This is because pure Kona green coffee isn’t cheap and so to keep the costs down it’s mixed with cheaper varieties.   So if you want to enjoy the unique and flavoursome taste of Kona green coffee make sure your bag is 100% pure…

If your local Supermarket doesn’t stock Kona green coffee then look for a supplier online.  You may be able to source some directly from a Hawaiian retailer, and often it will be much cheaper too.
